NATIONAL RURAL DRINKING WATER & SANITATION WEEK CELEBRATIONS GETS UNDERWAY AT REASI (16March2015)
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reasi Abdul Sartar today kick started “National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Awareness Week Celebrations” by flagging off Audio Visual Vehicle (IEC Van) here from mini secretariat Reasi today.
The van will cover the rural habitations of Reasi district to sensitize the people about water borne diseases and other health hazards arising due to poor water sanitation and would distribute pamphlets to inform people.
To create awareness in the villages across the District on the issues related to drinking water and sanitation like building and use of toilets, safe handling of water, use of water only from safe sources would be conveyed during the ‘National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Awareness week’ from March 16 to March 22. The week is celebrated by Ministry of Drinking water & Sanitation, GOI in collaboration with Communication and Capacity Development Unit and department of PHE.
ACR while speaking on the occasion underscored the need to create awareness among the masses about the conservation of traditional drinking water resources. He also called upon the need to give awareness to each and every rural person through active participation of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI’s) to ensure grass root awareness among the masses about safe drinking water habits.
All the departments including education, health, social welfare, RDD and PHE are allotted their work and are asked to sensitize each and everyone regarding the best practices of sanitation, personal hygiene and drinking water added ACR.
Among others Executive Engineer PHE- Kuldeep Mangotra, District Panchayat Officer-Susheel Khajuria was present on the occasion.
